During this time you will see a fast spinner next to any pending Downloads and the message “Waiting to download”. This may take several minutes depending on the amount of content on that server. Note: The first time you initiate a download, the app will need to obtain information from that server.

Tapping on a Download will take you to the appropriate details page. Any errors will be shown on here as well. This page will also serve as the status page for all Downloads. From the list view, you can filter and sort the content to find the Download you want. In this Downloads source, there are 2 views, an Items view which lists all Downloads that have been initiated, and a Library view so you can browse your media just as you would see from a Plex Media Server. So if you initiate a Download for episode 1 of season 1 for a show, then a Download for all of season 1 of that show, and then a Download for that entire show, you will see 3 Downloads, but there will only be 1 copy of each episode saved onto your device. If an item has already been included as part of another Download, a second copy will not be saved onto the device. Once pinned to the sidebar, you may rearrange it as needed. This can also be found under the “More” menu at the top of the list under “Offline”. The Downloads item will be listed in the sidebar and can be pinned/unpinned just like any other media source.

If downloading a whole TV show or Podcast you will have options to set subscription rules to choose the number of episodes to include in the Download and if an item should be removed when it no longer meets certain criteria. The context menu can be accessed by long-pressing on a library item in the grid or list view, such as music tracks in an album.įor movies and individual episodes, they will start to download immediately. After it was removed, some were able to manually install the iPad app to their M1 Macs but, to my limited understanding, that has somehow been blocked as well.Our Plex app for iOS has the ability to download media from your Plex Media Server, so you can make use of it even when offline or when your server is unavailable. But I do know that on day 1 of M1 Macs dropping, people were able to download the iPad app and run it and then later Netflix removed it from the app store.
There is no hulu or disney+ either, which I also don't understand, so Netflix is not alone here. I should also point out that nearly all of the other streaming services took their apps down as well.
Just seems annoying, odd, and at this point deliberate that there still isn't that option despite it being available for every other mobile device. It wouldn't even take much effort to build off the iPad app to build just and M1 app.
There is a windows, Android, iOS/iPadOS, Fire tablet, and even some Chromebooks can do it. Now I get the interface would be different and there would be kinks to work out, but still, that should be my problem to deal with.Įven if the iPad app is not the answer, I still think it should be an app for it by now. Turns out, developers can choose to not allow iPad app downloads on the new M1 Macs, despite the app being fully capable of running. I got an M1 Macbook Air a few months ago and I was really excited because I was under the impression that I would be able to use the iPad Netflix app and then download videos for offline viewing on planes and stuff.
